The Espresso Bar needed new menus when they moved into the space above Literati Bookstore. To tie the two businesses together, I continued the typewriter theme I had begun with Literati’s sign. These “pages” were typed on a 1930s Smith Corona that belonged to the grandfather of Literati’s co-owner, Mike Gustafson. Once enlarged, the monospaced font was hard to read. So I set up a tighter monospaced grid and kerned each line to fit.
